Reduces the problems of solid urban landfills by 80-90%
Using the B&P pyrolysis process opens a new frontier on SUW disposal problems.
Until now, SUW was buried in landfills or incinerated but our system transforms into
synthetic coal and energy with 80-90% efficiency. How? By first removing the non-combustible
components such as glass and inerts and sending them for recycling, we achieve an RDF with a
precise caloric value. This RDF is then chopped very fine allowing it to oxidize better and
more cleanly, while maintaining a caloric value comparable to coal. Then we proceed to the
most important process: pyrolysis. At the end, we have a product that is entirely comparable
to coal, but much cleaner because it is completely, or nearly, free of SO2 and NOx. This product
is called SynCoal and we have patented it as a safe source of "clean" energy for use
in power plants or, in any case, normal coal boilers. Exacting tests conducted by the EPA
provided the data on coal used in the USA shown in the lower left; a comparison with our SynCoal
in the lower right shows how it is better than every type of coal on the market. Then, considering
that the gases produced during the pyrolysis process are conveyed to a boiler that powers a
steam turbine to produce electricity, you can see that there are no toxic substances released into
the atmosphere, but, instead the turbine powers the entire plant and can even provide the
excess electricity to the surrounding communities at no charge.
